Leading Change

Without leadership most things in life are in a constant state of stagnation. Let's be honest, how exciting is it to be stuck in the rut of the same old thing the same old way all the time? The primary reason this happens, whether it is an ineffective organizational structure or an irrelevant systems, is a lack of leadership! Without leadership, we simply are going to be stuck where we are! Sure, many people "like" the idea of "nothing changing"- they may like it but I'm not convinced they love it. After all, if there was never any change, there would never be any improvements or better or more effective ways of doing things. While some people will complain about change, they certainly don't seem to mind taking advantage of it when it comes to their own personal needs, etc. We need to remember that the method we may be using right now, that for the most part has lost it's effectiveness, was a great idea in it's time that required leadership to see it happen. Change is a necessary aspect of life, or systems, or processes and without it there will always be extinction. Adaptation and evolutionary development is all critical to growth and success, not simply survival. Leadership can never cower to the masses who elect to stay where they are because leaders know that will bring certain decay and death. Leaders must lead change, because change is what perpetuates life and strengthens it ultimately.
